As I was reading the passage in Bolaño's novel 2666 on page 40 through 41 I was reminded of the article from the New York Times we read last week entitled, “Analyzing Literature and Words by Numbers”. Not marble, nor the gilded monuments. When #occupygaddis was proposed on Twitter, I posted it to Facebook, where Pat suggested that J.R. Bolaño's final novel, 2666, represents a sort of apotheosis of that dread. This is the issue that Roberto Bolano sets up in his novel 2666.
